Writing exercises

I really wanna share this. i'm writing a book. and the funniest thing is : my story emerged by a random character generator (http://writingexercises.co.uk/index.php).
I was having problems finding a matter to write about and discovered this amazing generator. so i did it! so.... what I've got was : an aggressive, 19-year-old woman who comes from a wealthy background, lives in a converted barn and tends to be a little paranoid :)
So i had my character but yet .... it was missing something so i garbed a notebook and a pen i went to visit my younger siblings! My brother a wonderful little boy with 7 years old and with a lot of imagination. and my sister, a beautiful young woman who doesn't want to care about anything, age os 15 is hard! I told them about my story and my brother immediately wanted to help, my sister was dragged :)
my brother wanted to choose the characters name. so the 19 years old woman is named Emma Stilton. my sister wanted a romance. So i thought! Fine! I like it! my brother decided that her romantic pair should be named as : Thiago Blocksberg! i was laughing to dead! this names come up from cartoons, but it was fine! :) and so i started my writing!soon i'll publish my book!

Blots & Plots

Chesapeake Bay Saga by Nora Roberts

I read this this collection a few years ago . It were the first books I read written by Nora Roberts . The first book of the series "Sea Swept " was offered by my aunt. At first I looked at the book strangely because i didn't knew the author. But it was love at first sight.
I must say that I was in love with the story of Quinn brothers in the first book. And was the trigger to fall in love by the stories of the author. Seth's history intertwined with the romance of each brother is wonderful . The four books evolve in a logical and coordinated manner and leaves us wanting for more . Each brother has a backgriund history of troubled childhood before being adopted by the Quinns and even become part of the Quinn family. The first three books mainly focus on the adjustment difficulties of Seth. The life he had with his mother was very problematic and the vision he has of family is quite erroneous. The adaptation of the Quinn brothers is also present , of course , and it's quite fun to read as they evolve with Seth. The fights that the brothers have to face each other , concerned always with the new family member. It's a lovelly story!
"Sea Swept " is about Cameron Quinn. A champion boat racer, that loves champagne and women. But when his father dies he have to go home, learn to live again with his brothers and caring for a wayward child. Of course he will also have to learn to deal with the social worker in charge of the case of Seth that lets you completely KO!
“Rising Tides” is about Ethan Quinn, who shared the love for the bay with his father. Ethan wants to make the family boatbuilding business a success. It is also about the love story betwen Ethan and Grace. A lovely, heartbreaking love story.
“Inner Harbor” is abou Philip. A man full of class who like good wine and expensive suits that fall in love by a pretty stranger that shows by the boatworks where he and his brothers work.
“Chesapeake Blue” is about Seth. Seth Quinn is a successful artist, that still battles between the feeling of keeping away his false mother of his family and to ask them for help. It also is the love story between Seth and Drusilla Whitcomb Banks.

The breeds by Lora Leigh

Well, i must say i'm entirely addicted to this series of books, i've already read most of the books of this collection. I don't actually remember how and when i discovered this author and her amazing collection of books. I really like the way she writes.
The way her stories evolve and off course the romance between the characters! Im truly in love with the romance between all the characters. The story that involves the characters , the beginning of the breeds , the council and all the violence and all the inhuman acts that are portrayed in the books made me want to read more and more. And what fascinated me most was the fact that the story could be true. I mean, the science evolves ever more and more, and human cruelty , unfortunately , too.
I never enjoyed reading series that have many books , but this fascinated me so much that I've read more than twenty . I could never pick a favorite one. I like all of them, one more than others, but i like all of them. This will be kind of the collections that when it ends i'll be broken heart.
I will share the titles I already read:

  • Tempting the Beast”
  • The man within”
  • Elizabeth's Wolf ”
  • Kiss of Heat ”
  • Soul Deep ”
  • The Breed Next Door ”
  • Megan's Mark”
  • Tanner’s Scheme”
  • Wolf's Hope”
  • Jacob's Faith”
  • Aiden's Charity”
  • In a Wolf's Embrace”
  • A Jaguar's Kiss”
  • Mercury's War”
  • Coyote's Mate”
  • Bengal's Heart”
  • Lion's Heat”
  • Styx's Storm”
  • Primal_Kiss ”
  • An Inconvvenient Mate”
  • Rule Breaker”

I loved the love story between Callan and Merinus Maybe because it was the firts book i read. Taber and Roni too, it was quite desperate to read the second book! “The Breed Next Door ” is one of my favourite too, Tarek is quite a man and Lyra is a lioness! “Styx's Storm”, “Bengal's Heart”, “Lion's Heat” and "Rule Breaker" are especial to me because i waited to read them anxiously.

Hope you like the post :)

February book - My cousin review

So here comes my review from The Night Circus.
First, let me say that I was expecting the book to jump much more in time. Back, forth, back, forth. Instead, I found the story quite chronologically ordered. They are 2 stories actually: Celia and Marco's story and Baley's story. What surprised me is that we follow them until they are 35 or something, usually the action develops much sooner, it was new for me. I like new things. wink emoticon
I don't dislike slow beginnings either. I find them harder to read but as long as I get a satisfactory amount of emotional development later, I'm open to such stories. There was a moment, which I think everyone felt, the story seemed to slow to a crawl and that there'd be no action at all. Suddenly we get the first Bailey chapter and his meeting with Poppet, which felt like an intake of fresh air. A much needed respire. 5 points to the author for that strategic placement.
Also, I got the feeling that the focus of this book was neither the romance between those two couples, nor in the challenge between the two teachers. It was Le Cirque des Rêves. I loved that at the beginning of each part we get to explore the Circus ourselves, not through the eyes of the characters.
I truly felt like I was there, inside those black and white tents, admiring all those incredible and impossible feats of engineering and magic. The book is about the Circus. But what is the Circus?
It is not just a venue like the teachers so often insist. It has a life of itself, its vital energy being each and every character that helped to its creation. Tsukiko says it herself at the end, that the circus would simply cease to exist once the challenge was over. When Tara and Herr Thiessen died, they were the "cracks in the castle", meaning that the Circus could only exist with everyone.
I read this book twice. There are lots of hints and suggestions of things later confirmed by characters, to which I was completely oblivious on my first read. For example: no one ages; no one gets harmed; I thought Isobel was Celia until Celia's audition; the truth of the ending to their challenge, etc..
I already posted some of my favorite quotes from the book earlier, but I couldn't put my number one quote because it'd have been a spoiler. Now, enough time has passed for everyone to read so I'll finish with Marco's words:
"ALONE IN HIS FLAT, Marco constructs tiny rooms from scraps of paper. Hallways and doors crafted from pages of books and bits of blueprints, pieces of wallpaper and fragments of letters.
He composes chambers that lead into others that Celia has created. Stairs that wind around her halls.
Leaving spaces open for her to respond."
If I could only enter one tent, it'd be the one they created together.

February book my opinion

So! my opinion about February book. The book was a little confused for me and sometimes i thought of giving up my read. when I first read the story of Bailey and red hair girl
i started to get enchanted by the book again.
the jump of dates and cities confused me and definitily this is not the kind of book I enjoy reading. Without doubt! I BELIEVE that the guardians have created this contest for what seems to be nothing but their own sense of power, and they are ruthless in seeing it through to the end: And i hate that! Really! The way Celia’s father over and over again slices her fingers so she can “learn” to heal them with her mind, and breaks her wrist when she’s not being quite magic enough. It was a good read but i don´t think it's one of my favourite books! At all! It was a barbaric the way that the kids evolve. The love story between Celia and Marco was adorable! I have a favorite part in the book:
"Marco watches her approach, confused at first but then the confusion is replaced by something else entirely.
He could tell from across the room that she was lovely, but when she is near enough to look him in the eyes the loveliness—the shape of her face, the contrast of her hair against her skin—evolves into something more.
She is radiant. For a moment, while they look at each other, he cannot remember what he is meant tobe doing, or why she is handing him a piece of paper with the number twenty-three written on it in his own handwriting."
Despite not having appreciated the book it was a good read and I was happy to read it. I loved the idea of the story itself, despite the book's confusion. Let's read March book!

The Importance of Reading and Imagination

The Importance of Reading and Imagination
Reading is an essential stimulus for the imagination. I think children should be taught from an early age to have reading habits. Read helps kids, develop their language skills. It also helps them learn how to listen. I don't mean that we should all enjoy it, but I think that it is a stepstone in the development of children. It also improves vocabulary and makes you dream. Reading is important because it improve the mind. The mind is a muscle. It needs workout.
Reading today is how we can discover new things. How we know what 's happening in the world, through newspapers and magazines. A person who knows how to read can educate themselves in any area they are interested in. Internet is a great learning tool which demands the ability to read and understand what is read. We live in an era where we are overwhelmed with information, but reading is the main tool to scrutinize the information that we need. When we read, we can go anywhere in the world! We can be a king, or an adventurer, or a princess, or a magician. It's a sea full of possibilities!
Imagination surround us everywhere. According to the dictionary, it is the ability to form new images and sensations in the mind that are not perceived through senses such as sight, hearing, or others. It also says that it is fundamental to integrate experiences and for the learning process.
Every time we watch television, every time we go shopping, every time we dream, imagination is everywhere. It follows us everywhere we go. It's an important part of early education because it helps children to learn and develop the needed values as society members. Imagination is a very healthy development and don´t interferes with a child’s ability to understand the real world.
I believe that imagination and read are the some of the most important parts of our lives. For me, it is! It influences the way I think and how I see the world. It influences my writing, how i draw and the way I go through problems. And I think it's the same with everyone, some more than others, but with everyone.
Creatives of large companies need it to create the most innovative advertising spots. Politicians definitely need someone with imagination to write their speeches. Writers, to write their books. Producers, to produce their movies. Even a simple trader with a small shop, requires imagination to expose their items in the store.
Imagination and reading are two integral components of humanity that we should value more!

January Book

My opinion of January book:

Well , to begin, I must say I was quite disappointed because I read a short version of the story. But that's okay! Later in November i will also have to study Jane Austen so it does not hurt! I nedd to say that my vision of this story is framed by the 2005 movie, which is one of my favorite movies ever, by the way.
The book and the film are completely different in the movie the director has focused attention on the couple Elizabeth/Darc while the book focuses on Elizabeth.
The view that Jane Austen gives us about marriage is quite common for that time because a woman could only be unravel with a good marriage. And despite i quite dislike Mrs. Bennet and that she have ridiculous statements, she is simply concerned about the financial situation of the daughters and that fact made me not to hate her at all.
I totally hated Lydia and nothing could make me like her. She is foolish and stupid!
I adore Mr. Bennet, although I find him too calm and disinterested, i kinda like his relationship with Elizabeth .
I also liked the relationship between Jane and Elizabeth. I loved the way that Elizabeth hate Mr. Darcy smile emoticon the evolution of their romance throughout the novel made me want to hit the walls! After all their romance is full of pride and prejudice and i just love them!
I also loved Jane/Bingley couple! I mean, o doesn't? Although i think Bingley is quite insecure, when he gives up his marriage to Jane I wanted to hit him with a baseball bat . I mean, seriously? But i also understand his situation , as Cristina said about by Mr.Darcy , a man with fortune has to be careful.
I hated Bingley sisters, especially caroline! I disliked Mr. Collins but i don't hate him at all, i'm just indifferent to him.
I adore Elizabeth she´s a really amazing young Lady that goes against most of the toughts of that Era. Elizabeth Bennet was Jane Austen's favourite heroine: “ i must confess that i think her as a delightful creature as ever appeared in print” - she wrote to her sister Cassandra.
Elizabeth deffenitly rocket against Lady Catherine. Besides Lady Catherine being very rich and an important person i liked the way that Elizabeth stood up for her. I mean in that time it was not normal that a girl of inferior birth talk to a women like Lady Catherine in such a way! I liked the part when she says: “i will make no such promise. You havetottally misunderstood my character if you think i can be persuaded by such threats. I do not know wether your nephew would approve of your interference in his life, but you certainly have no right in mine”
I just imagined a slap into Lady's Catherine face. How amazing, i even dance with this line of Elizabeth.
I liked the part where Mrs.Bingley (Jane) and Mrs.Darcy were living close to each other. My favourite part was when Mr.Darcy propose the second time! I wish i could be Elizabeth!
I felt an overwhelming lack of dialogue . I really wish there had been more dialogue, but enjoyed reading this work of Jane Austen . It was very rewarding for me because I love Classics!
Let's read the February book!

Grandma garden

Grandma Garden

In my town my favorite place of all is my grandmother garden. In the spring her garden is filled with flowers of all types and colors. The birds sing and the sun shines on the trees. In that garden, i love to write. I grab a chair, i place it close to the barriers, where i can have a good view of Tejo river. Is an inspiring and relaxing view! My imagination stars to fly and i can write texts that really please me. I love the smell of fresh soil in the morning, it's amazing to be in my grandma garden. The silence is lovely, i can only hear the birds, the wind and my grandma calling me for lunch. Is definitely my favorite place of all!

me writing - him

Him

So! There i was walking alone on the street with my mind full of thoughts. I looked from side to side and that's when i saw him. So bright and alone. Standing there all by himself, i pity him. I gained strenght and raised my head, i will not go in there. But then i looked at him again, he should be so soft to touch and would not hurt me. He was a classic one, i took a deep breath and decided to enter in the store. I had definitly had to buy those shoes, they were made for me, not to be alone in the showcase.

Pay for plastic bags

In my country has now started a law that we have to pay for plastic bags in all stores. The plastic bag costs ten cents or more, depending on the bag size. I think this is a wonderful idea because, besides we are helping the environment we avoid both waste of plastic bags that take so long to degrade in the environment!
Myonly worry are the companies that produce the bags at this point should be to come and crisis. I work in a shop and people prefer to take their items on hand or else bring your own bag. Everything has positive and negative aspects but it's always complicated.
Personally, despite ashamed to say, I did not practice recycling one hundred percent and now with this new law i do!  I think this fantastic new law. I already have some raffia bags to do my shopping. :)
